Visitor Use Management Study

The Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG) requires a better understanding of visitor use dynamics on their Cootes Paradise South Shore property. Given the distance from the RBG administrative building and the Natural Lands department offices on the North Shore of Cootes Paradise, RBG has less of a presence on the South Shore property. As a result, it is difficult to control visitor use on trails. Sanctioned trails experience over-use with the usual results (i.e., erosion, exposure of tree roots, introduction of invasive plant species, and use by off-leash dogs).

Civicplan and BMcH Consulting have partnered with the Royal Botanical Gardens to conduct a Visitor Use Management Plan, focusing on establishing desired conditions for their South Shore Property on Cootes Paradise.
