Reimagine Our Museums

Hamilton’s Civic Museums are important community resources that tell the story of the city, its people and the land, provide meeting space for community groups, host events and programs, and provide outdoor recreational space at locations all across the city. Hamiltonians are proud of their museums and recognize they have great potential to reach larger audiences, to be more relevant, to tell more diverse stories, and to be more connected to their surrounding communities.

The City of Hamilton is developing a new strategy for the Hamilton Civic Museums. As part of this process, Civicplan lead a multi-faceted public engagement campaign to learn more about residents’ current experiences with these important institutions, as well as thoughts and suggestions to improve them moving forward.

We incorporated interviews, surveying, focus groups, virtual reality, plus an interactive timeline asking residents to help build the ongoing story of the city, all to help aid in the development of a new strategy.
