Greening Strategy Refinement

The York Region Greening Strategy outlines programs and practices to create and maintain healthy natural environments that foster healthy, sustainable communities for current and future generations.

The Greening Strategy was first developed in 2001 and was updated in 2012. It was identified for a 10-year refinement in 2021 to assess the effectiveness of current programs and identify opportunities to enhance them, while also identifying opportunities for new programs. Civicplan was hired to conduct engagement and data analysis as part of the Strategy refinement process. Engagement stretched over nine regional municipalities that covered both urban and rural areas and results pinpointed areas of strength and focus moving forward.
